 My name is Marcela Limon, and I'm a Certified Maternity and Newborn photographer servicing the San Francisco Bay Area from my beautiful studio in Alameda.  As the owner of Lemonshoots, I create artistic, timeless, and dreamy photographs of expecting mothers, newborns, and the people they love most.

My Comfortable Oakland-area Studio Has Everything You Need

Your sessions take place in the Lemonshoots photography studio located in Alameda. I serve clients from all around the San Francisco Bay, including:

In addition to capturing precious moments and poses, the Lemonshoots studio is set up to facilitate the comfort and ease of mothers, babies, partners, and other family members who choose to participate or witness the process unfold.

It's Never Too Early To Book a Session

Photographers who capture the most beautiful images are booked out for months ahead of time, so it's never too early to contact prospective photographers and choose the one you feel most comfortable with. 

Most of my clients contact me at the beginning of their second trimester to schedule their maternity session. This gives them a chance to:

  • Ask questions.

  • Learn more about how the sessions work and what we offer.

  • Inquire about wardrobe options and studio features.

  • Take a peek at the results from recent maternity and newborn sessions.

  • Tell me more about their stories, so I get a feel for their personalities, energy, style, and goals.

  • Secure their session date/s along with a booking quote and information about package options.

In addition to securing a date for their maternity photoshoot, parents also have priority access for scheduling their newborn portrait session or becoming part of a multi-session package, including our Bump to Baby and Baby Plan options.

Maternity Photos Illuminate the Unfolding Beauty Of Motherhood

My images tell stories and maternity photo sessions depict the unfolding story of the expecting mother and the baby developing with her.  These sessions are best scheduled for the 28 to 32 weeks of pregnancy.

Maternity sessions can be a solo experience, or they may include spouses, partners, or other significant loved ones. We do your hair and makeup for you in the studio on the day of your session, so you have nothing to do but relax, take deep breaths, and be present in this meaningful experience.

During the 1-hour, in-studio maternity sessions, you have access to an extensive maternity gown closet with a wide range of styles, colors, and textures to choose from. And the results are always stunning.

We'll schedule a final Ordering Appointment together when we'll look at the amazing images, select your favorites, and discuss all of the artistic options for displaying them or organizing them into an album.

 

 

 Newborn Sessions: Beautiful Portraits Using Safety-First Practices

Adding a new member to your family is a milestone that deserves to be documented with artistic and timeless portraits, but safety is always the priority. We ensure your sweet newborn is content, comfortable, and safe for the entirety of the sessions (which can take up to three hours).

 
 

Schedule Newborn Sessions 3 to 4 Months Before the Due Date

In order to guarantee your spot, we recommend scheduling the newborn shoot when you're the second trimester your pregnancy. That way, we know we can schedule your session within the first 14 days of the baby's birth.

My studio space has everything required to keep you, your newborn, and any guests completely comfortable. This includes:

  • A cozy changing station and everything else you’ll need to nurse and care for your baby comfortably.

  • Plenty of time for you to nurse, feed, change, and soothe your baby as needed.

  • A hair and makeup station where we pamper mama while the baby's photos are taken.

  • Water, snacks, and other things that keep everyone satiated, comfortable, and entertained (Need something specific? Let us know, and we'll do our best).

  • Access to our wide range of premium, post-partum gowns for family photos and portraits.

  • Unlimited candid shots and unlimited outfit/prop changes.

Many of our customers joke that their newborn sessions were some of the most relaxing and pleasurable hours they've spent since the baby was born. 

 
 
 

What Does Safety First Mean?

As a Certified Maternity and Newborn photographer (APNPI), I take safety very seriously; it is always the first priority. 

In addition to completing APNPI's Safety Course, I also hold current certifications for Infant CPR & First Aid. Choosing a safe newborn photographer is essential to protecting your child from harm. 

At a first look at the gallery, parents are amazed at the types of poses we capture in our newborn sessions, but those images are created using a bit of behind-the-scenes magic. Our secret? We use digital innovations and photo editing software for much of what you see in the final picture. 

This includes things like:

  • Making sure the baby's head is always supported.

  • The airways are always clear (no tucked heads).

  • Ensuring the baby is never dangling, suspended, or cramped.

  • Zero risk of irritation or harm from outfits or props.

As a Lemonshoot client, we let you in on a slice of the newborn photography life, where the eye can be tricked by a few savvy photo editing moves on our part.

Artwork and digital images (in color and black and white options) are made available to you for purchase at a subsequent ordering appointment.

Milestone Sessions

These sessions are only available to existing Lemonshoots Newborn Session clients. Milestone Sessions (part of the Baby Plan) allow you to schedule two more photo sessions based on celebrated milestones, such as the first time the baby sits, crawls, stands or walks - or to honor their first birthday. We promise that motion is no object for experienced newborn photographers!
